A Modern Retro October Wedding

Not only is Fall is my favorite season, but Fall weddings are also my favorite! As a designer I can really play around with those rich, deep colors and textures to make a unique design. Brittany had reached out to me over a year before her wedding at Renault Winery and booked me for her wedding invites. I waited a bit before getting started on the designs and I’m glad we did because the direction of the wedding changed from the first idea, and the final theme was perfection. Brittany sent over an amazing PDF moodboard with decor ideas, florals, and colors and I got to work!

Fonts are always important to the overall design, but it’s especially important with a retro design since it has such a distinctive look. Once I saw that font I knew it was the one! Brittany and Lucas opted for a one page invitation so I printed a fun design on both sides. Since their venue is so beautiful a watercolor illustration of the venue was a must as well! In order to connect the front to the back, I included a version of an arch on each side along with that a soft pink color. A QR code makes it easy for guests to RSVP and see the other details for the wedding, plus a link was included for any guest who would prefer to type it in instead. For the envelopes, the couple chose a metallic pearl envelope for that perfect touch of shine with an arched design on the front of the envelope as well. For that finishing touch, we added a beautiful wax seal and it was a huge hit with their guests!

After finishing the invites it was time for the reception welcome sign. Brittany and Lucas wanted to make a statement so we had to go big with this sign. This 5 foot printed foam core sign greeted guests and was a great backdrop for photos, plus since it’s lightweight they were able to easily move it around the reception area. I took elements from the invites like the fonts and colors and then the sparkles from the wax seals to combine them into one cohesive piece. The corner rainbows were a last minute add but it truly ties it all together and makes it so memorable. These are the kind of statement pieces that set your wedding apart from the rest!
